Letter to the Editor - Thank You Aspen, Onwards!

To All Our Supporters, Friends, and Foes:

Thank you. This election process has been a joy. It was an honor to dive fully into each aspect of our community. To learn from those who disagreed. To be inspired by those striving. To change a mind. To ask... and really listen. To feel supported and enlivened.

To dig my roots as deep as I could reach, then grow.

It has been an honor to share in this process with Ann Mullins, Steve Skadron, Torre, Ward Hauenstein, Art Daily, Sue Tatum, and Lee Mulcahy. We are grateful to have a set of such willing public servants.

I am so proud of the team we assembled and the campaign we ran. Thank you, John Sarpa, RJ Gallagher, Chris Klug, David Houggy, Steve Wickes, Steev Wilson, Chris Bendon, Michelle Kiley, Ashley Lynn, Alexandra Latimer, Mike Rees, Kimbo Brown-Schirato, Riley Tippet, and the many more that helped along the way.

When some went low, we inspired and insisted others go high. We influenced the debate, bringing into the discussion fresh solutions to intractable old problems. And we reminded everyone that a better, more responsive, more inclusive government is not only possible but necessary.

We were honored by the support of top national leaders like Jesse White and Congressman Jared Polis.

Olympians for Skippy, Local Legend Chris Klug Serves as Treasurer

I am writing in support of my friend Skippy Mesirow for City Council. While I always vote, I don’t often get involved campaigning. My life’s mission through Chris Klug Foundation is to change the face of organ donation in our country, to ensure everyone that needs a life-saving transplant can get one just like I did almost seventeen years ago. That’s an apolitical goal that we should all share. All of the candidates running for office this spring in Aspen are my friends. I admire all of them for standing up for our community, and for what they believe in, while striving to make our town a better place. While there are some other good candidates, I am proud to act as treasurer and help support Skippy Mesirow.

Military Veterans and Generals Support Skippy

Thank you for your support of our Veterans.

Your work with Enabled Enterprises and as a director of The Children of Heroes Foundation have made a difference in the lives of our Veterans and their families. Your compassion for giving back to these heroes speaks volumes as to who you are as a person. We know you will bring that same passion and hard work to the city council.

Letter to the Editor - Marilee Spatz

Where do I begin? How do I hone in on the 30+ years that I have known Skippy like no one else can? How do I narrow down countless stories, life cycle events, cherished memories, and the joy and support Skippy has brought to our family as well as to so many people that he has touched worldwide?  One of the most important contributions I have made to our planet is SKIPPY!  I am his immensely proud, loving, supportive mom.

Letter in support Skippy for Council

I will be brief and to the point, I support Skippy’s run for City council.

As someone who was born and raised in Aspen I care deeply for the future of my home. I have put a great deal of time in the last few years into bringing the art, events, voice, and viewpoints I think this city needs to maintain its vibrancy.

Sometimes those efforts have left me discouraged that although we live in the best place on earth, we don’t have enough people thinking about community, or working towards a future that we would all want to be a part of.
